Going to Disneyland was an amazing experience, still even with all of our planning and preparations it was still impossible to do everything that we set out to do on our trip.
And that's okay!
Knowing that we're now annual passholders, the plan has always to go back and prioritize the things that we weren't able to do, things that we want to do again and experiences that we want to share with whoever is traveling with us. For this blog post I'm going to focus on the Top 5 Things that I want to do that I missed the first time.
#1 - Leg Day
The way in which folks were attacking those turkey legs in Disneyland had me feeling some sort of way. I've always heard over the years in Disney World how the turkey legs are a bit rubbery, dry and way to salty. But these Disneyland legs? The juices were splattering everywhere!
For a second I thought I was watching this scene from God of Cookery the way in which folks seemed to be rediscovering their youth through the succulent delicacy that is the Disneyland turkey leg.
Maybe it's just hype or maybe there is actually something to it. Whatever it is, I want to judge for myself.
#2 - Riverboat
I don't know what it is but I love the Disney riverboats, but somehow I never make it on them. Every time I've gone to Magic Kingdom, the riverboat is somehow shut down for the day for a refurb or we end up missing it for other attractions.
Seeing the Mark Twain Riverboat pass us by at Disneyland, getting a big wave from Princess Tiana felt great and has only made me want to luxuriate on that big ol' boat even more. It just seems like it would feel nice to take a break from both the hustle AND the bustle of a park day to just chill for 15 minutes. Heck, might just take another go around just for the sake of it. I am no longer of the age or inclination to rush around, and there is just something about a steamboat that just screams "Take yo time shug", that I am more than inclined to abide by.
#3 - Moon Girl
Our DCA day was a bit soggy, but when we were over in the back by the Monster's Inc ride we saw that there was a space to meet Marvel's Moon Girl, Lunella Lafayette. The music was playing, but we were on a mission to find a replacement battery for my dying phone and she hadn't come out yet. By the time we returned the music was off and it wasn't clear if she had come out at all.

This was a huge bummer because I am a fan of the character and had even bought the comics for my eldest, M. Part of me wanted to take a picture with her dressed in her hero costume (and I am NOT a character pic collector type of gal), to show M., but also because I just kind of wanted to see her myself.
Next time I go I'll make sure to find the times that she'll be appearing, especially since M. will be coming with us. Mostly because I think this character is just freakin' amazing.
#4 - Character Collecting
Okay, this is a bit of a contradiction to my earlier point, but honestly I'm not a huge fan of taking pictures with characters. It's kind of the same way in which I'm not a huge fan of standing in lines at Comic Cons to talk to celebrities or take pictures with them. I have no idea what I'd say because what do we even have in common?
Still, being in Disneyland made me appreciate all of the character sightings. They are everywhere, just walking around and it's kind of amazing.
Boba Fett just hangin around
While stuff like this isn't currently my cup of tea, maybe I'll appreciate it more if I try to say hi to a few characters. With Chewbacca being my favorite, seeing him off in the distance was really cool but there was a bit of regret that I have never even attempted to get a picture with him.
Chewy livin' it up
Honestly, life is way to short for these kinds of regrets, so the next time I see Chewy, Mando, Hook or even Alice strutting their stuff then I'm going to take it as a sign that I need a picture. I may never be a full on character collector, but at least I won't regret trying.
I'll be keeping my eye on this dashing rogue
#5 - Taking the Plunge
Speaking of regrets...there is one ride that I didn't get to partake in but also felt a bit of regret for skipping.
In DCA there are two rides that I will absolutely not ride, no matter what. This might be different for others but the Pal-Around (deranged ferris wheel) and the Incredicoaster are absolute "hell naw"s for me. I personally do not enjoy the sensation of being lifted up and rotated, and I've recently discovered that I've aged out of what most folks would find fun about roller coasters.
Hell to the naw
The ride that I was most on the fence about but ultimately want to experience is Guardians of the Galaxy. Even though it is just a reskin of Tower of Terror, and even though I don't care for elevator drops (thanks for the memories Demon Drop), I think the experience would be worth it. I like being able to say "never again", because I know I can't handle it instead of always wondering.

Going back to actually ride it may be as good as Cosmic Rewind on my second try when I figured out how to loosen up and enjoy the experience. It could also be as bad as riding Roger Rabbit, the only ride I've been on that has made me almost vomit.
I guess we'll see in September!
