Six various lotions from the Bath & Body Works Disney Princesss line
I like many others, like to smell good. Luckily there are business that are more than happy to continue supplying me with the kinds of smell goods that I enjoy. Mostly I'm looking at you, Bath & BodyWorks home of the buy 1 get 50 plus 3 at 98% off.
Which I am not now or will ever be mad at, but I did promise myself last year that I would only take part in these deals from BBW if I run out of the lotions that I truly enjoy, or if it was something that I really found interesting.
So imagine my delight when I receive an email about the new Disney Princess collaboration with BBW. Six new scents that represent the princesses that we all know and love, with more than just a hint of Disney magic to help all of us feel a little princessy too.
The collections included lotions, body creams, shower gels, candles, hand sanitizers, stands, mirrors, a possibly a partridge in a pear tree. It was a lot, and since I famously do not have a lot I focused on getting things that I would actually use.
In the end I bought all six scents in the body cream, each for just under $9 mostly as it is the type of lotion that works the best for me. But how did the royal ladies rank?
The Cinderella body cream, like all of the body creams in this collection sports the Ultimate Hydration with Shea Butter + Hyaluronic Acid and 24 Hour moisture like all BBW body cream formulas and is 8 ounces.
Sampling the Cinderella scent I found that the lotion is very fragrant and smells like a garden with the smallest hint of an type of earthy soil type note. Nothing dirty, just a very subtle smell you might have walking through a freshly tilled garden.
Gardenias are listed as a main scent and they come through with a cool, watery smell. I also get a hint of something like plums in the way back, but that could just be me.
It's a bit stronger than I would normally wear, but I don't hate the smell at all. In wearing the scent a few times it definitely lingers on clothing and wearing it full body would probably have a hang time in the air of any room you walk into or out of. If that level of perfume is for you then this might be your type of princess lotion. For me it was a bit much, but fine for a hand or elbow cream. I have used more of it when I know I am going to be home, as I do not like to leave my workplace smelling like Shi was just here.
The Belle lotion is a sweet and creamy with a fun citrusy rose. It reminds me a lot of the other Rose lotion at Bath and Body Works but very very creamy like a candy.
Vanilla listed as one of the scents but instead of it being a warm vanilla note that you might get around the fall or christmas season with feelings of eggnog or fireplaces it is almost sugary and more summery bright. If you ever had a lemon mamba it is that mixed with flowers.
After wearing it off and on for a while it is definitely one of my favorites. As I said before it reminds me of the more basic rose lotions but the lemon notes give it something a bit more special that I really enjoy wearing.
Princess Ariel Lotion
The Ariel scent was a strange one for me. Like a few of the others coming up like Tiana and Moana, this was another water smell, but this one is more coastal with a sea salt component.
There are light florals, and for some reason I also smell something like a watermelon Jolly Rancher (artificial watermelon I guess?) scent. I'm not sure why that's there or if it's just me but it doesn't seem to fit the theme of this particular princess but it is still an alright smell.
It is stronger than the Tiana scent but the fruitiness threw me off. Not one of my favorites, but Tiff enjoyed it and it has now been rehomed.
Full disclosure, Tiana is my GIRL in this collection!
This scent was light and had me feeling like I was near fresh water. Even though it is a water scent like Ariel, it had a very bright and light fresh scent. Lilies are very pronounced which make sense considering it is the flower used throughout the movie, not at all overpowering.
There is also a hint of musk in the lotion, something deeper that feels like an finish on the scent but not at all off putting.
This is one of my favorites!
In a move that shoudn't surprise anyone, the Princess Jasmine scent contained...Jasmine, and a lot of it.
It is flowery and sweet but not overly so. I'd put it on the mid-range of fragranced, noticible and will probably remain on your clothes after the day but won't fill the entire room after you walk out. I liked it but it ranked lower on my list than some of the others. This one also found a new home with Tiff when she came by to sample the collection.
For the last of the water type scents we have the Moana line. This scent is very tropical fruity, slightly creamy (coconut perhaps?). It also feels like it would go a long way and I would only wear it in a full body application if I were staying home or anywhere but work. I would mostly likely use this as a hand cream or on less exposed but dryer areas like elbows and feet to get the most out of the moisturizing nature of this product but not overwhelm everyone around me with the scent.
This scent is very similar to Bath & Body Work's Hibiscus Paradise, if it were made into a sorbet. Slightly creamier but just as fruity and tropical feeling. Its a really good scent and from what I can tell from our pinterest post about this line, it is the one that has received the most attention (by the way we are on Pinterest, come check us out!). Having used it off and on for a few weeks now I can absolultely see why.
So should you buy any of these scents? That really depends on what you like to smell like, how accessible the collection is to you and how much you like Disney Princessess.
Overally I don't have any regrets for the purchases I made. There are some bottles of lotion that I know are going to be hanging around for a while and may end up as the last ones that I use once everything else that I like better are completely empty, but there wasn't a single one that I turned my nose up to.
Additionally, the price that I paid was fair for what I receieved with the knowledge that I got a discount off of the normal price. But even now this collection has been marked down to 40% off and depending on supplies may even be included in some of the well known other sales that are popular for Bath and BodyWorks throughout the year. Also if the lotion isn't doing it for you, the candles and other products like sanitizer and perfumes could be more up your alley (especially marked down).
Ultimately I felt that this was a fun collection that did give just a hint of Disney magic. I may not feel like a princess, but at least I like how I smell.
