Years ago when my oldest, M was little and we took our first family trip to Disney World we did so around the end of October with the plan to attend the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Due to a lack of knowledge on our parts, we weren't able to attend the after hours party but we did get to see an awesome transformation from the Halloween decorations when we entered the park to their Christmas decorations as we left that night.
In the years since, I've wanted to attend the MNSSHP but recently we were put on the spooky season event that takes place over in Disney's California Adventure...The Oogie Boogie Bash.

Even though it takes place in DCA, which honestly has the fewest attractions and rides that I would enjoy, the event itself sounds like a blast. When we also heard that Magic Key holders would get a first crack at purchasing tickets on June 27th, 2023 I decided to bite the bullet and hop into that virtual queue for this often sold out event.
The Oogie Boogie Bash takes place over a lot fewer nights and doesn't last as long as the offerings for MNSSHP making it more of a priority purchase. Additionally, unlike the MNSSHP Magic Key holders do not get a discount on ticket prices. I paid $134 per ticket for myself, Tiff and my much older daughter M totaling about $402 after all was said and done.
For an extra $104 we can get M a regular ticket to Disneyland for the trip and we are debating whether to use it on the day of Oogie Boogie before the event starts and park hopping over or using it another day of the trip. Regardless of when we do that part, it feels good to know that with a bit of planning and preparation I can now share this special experience with both my sister and my eldest.
The biggest question of all is if this is going to be worth the money. While we will definitely have blog posts in a few months after we return from the party (and LOADS of pics), while we're there I really want to focus on having fun with my family. Honestly, it feels like that should be the point no matter what.
So with that in mind, I'm looking forward to Oogie Boogie, M's first trip to California and more time spent with two of my favorite people!
